King Abdul Aziz International Airport: Airfield Facilities Upgrade

King Abdul Aziz International Airport (KAIA), located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was commissioned in the 1970s and built in the early 1980s. KAIA has been the most dynamic and the fastest growing airport in the region, being the western gateway to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia serving the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

The existing infrastructure and facilities are old and cannot keep up with the demand. Thus, to relieve congestion and accommodate future growth, and to achieve the optimum objectives for domestic/international passengers/cargo, hub operations and commercialisation, KAIA required major expansion and upgrading of its existing infrastructure and facilities.
