Mubarak Peace Cable Stayed Bridge

This bridge is a crossing link between Asia (Sinai Peninsula) and Africa, and spans the Suez Canal, one of the most important and busiest sea routes in the world. It was executed between 1996-2001 at Qantara, Egypt, with a total cost of US$ 200 million.

The bridge (including approaches) is 9 km in length with a main navigational span of 404 m. The cable-stayed bridge has a clear height of 70 m over the water level to enable the largest carriers to pass safely and freely in the canal. The approaches have a total length of 3.5 km and are of continuous prestressed box girders executed using the movable shuttering system. The columns range in height from 10 m to 60 m, and were constructed using the slip form system.
