Bawdie-Assankragua Road, Ghana

As part of an economic recovery program, the government of Ghana decided to upgrade the Bawdie-Asankragua Road (in western Ghana) from Km 20.0 to Km 53.7 (the end). The aim of the project is to facilitate easier access to social services and markets within the corridor, reduce the cost of movement of people and goods - especially cocoa and timber - to and from Takoradi Export Port, and to facilitate national integration. The first 20 km of the project had been upgraded to a double surface dressed finish and the remaining section was of gravel surface.
